Abyssal Chaos
"The dark web is fraught with uncertainties. To gather more intelligence, you will undertake commissions to raise your clearance level and uncover the answers you seek." -Abyssal Chaos Commission Guide
Abyssal Chaos is a "Highly Random Roguelike" Battle Mode included in the July 15, 2024 update. To unlock this mode players must be Hunter Level 45 and complete Main Story "Under Deepspace" Chapters 4-13.
Players will team up with a Companion to take on commissions, complete various Deduction Nodes, and earn Deduction Points. Players can gain unique abilities in Abyssal Chaos and collect Incidents related to a Companion along the way. Deduction Points can be used to level up and claim rewards, including Universal Accessories, His Universal Outfit, "My" Outfit and Earrings, and Diamonds.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
Deduction Difficulty[edit | edit source]
Before starting the commission, you can choose between Easy and Hard difficulty levels for a Deduction. Hard mode gives more rewards and consists of tougher battles. Upon completing the tutorial, Easy mode will be unlocked. Upon completing a Deduction on Easy mode, Hard mode will be unlocked.
The difficulty level cannot be changed during the Deduction.
Deduction Companion[edit | edit source]
Players must choose a Companion to join them before beginning a Deduction. The selected Companion will determine the Case Deduction experience, obtainable Incidents, which Companion Factors will be rewarded, and obtainable Exclusive Codes. Players can choose from a list of Companions that they have unlocked or the current cycle's Trial Companion.
Trial Companion[edit | edit source]
Trial Companions change every cycle, which lasts two weeks. This allows players to bring a Companion they have not unlocked and collect the Companion's Exclusive Codes and Companion Factors. Completing a Deduction with the Trial Companion will reward more Companion Factors, which are used to unlock nodes in that Companion's Companion Genes.
Deduction Memories[edit | edit source]
Players can form a team with the selected Companion's corresponding Memories after choosing the Companion. All Memories will be at max level and awakened in Abyssal Chaos Deductions but will retain the Memories' current Rank. Protocores will not have an effect in Abyssal Chaos.
Deduction Nodes[edit | edit source]
Once you start a commission, deduction nodes will begin appear in phases. The first phase will always be the core case node, which furthers the story of the commission. The next phases will be a selection phase where players will choose one node from a pool of three randomly populated nodes (either Incident, Savage Invasion, or Potential Challenge). Crisis, Code Purchase, and Code Upgrade are nodes that show up alone in certain phases. Code Purchase will always come before Code Upgrade.
Types of Nodes[edit | edit source]
- Find Tobias
- Incident
- Savage Invasion
- Crisis
- Potential Challenge
- Code Purchase
- Code Upgrade
Non-Battle Phases[edit | edit source]
Players can leave Abyssal Chaos to suspend the Deduction. The progress will be saved.
Battle Phases[edit | edit source]
Upon failing a battle, the player can choose to retry or to quit. Quitting will result in the deduction failing and ending the current run. Players can then restart the process from the beginning by selecting a Difficulty, Companion, and Memories to try again.

Deduction Completion[edit | edit source]
Rewards can be gained by completing all Nodes in a Deduction successfully OR by battle failure/interruption. Players will earn Deduction Points, General Factors, Companion Factors, and Gold.

Companion Factors[edit | edit source]
Commissions[edit | edit source]
The current commission objective is "Find Tobias."
- Find Tobias: A rich businessman gives a commission to find his son, Tobias, who suffers Protocore Syndrome. Intel suggests that Tobias is an expert in modifying the machines and holds a grudge against a gang. Undercover infiltration is required by this commission.
It is unknown if the commission's "core case" will change.
Deduction Points and Rewards[edit | edit source]
Points[edit | edit source]
Deduction Points are used to level up the Deduction Rewards ladder. A max of 2,000 Deduction Points can be earned each two-week cycle before they reset.
Rewards[edit | edit source]
Rewards can be obtained at each level of the Deduction Rewards ladder. There is a max of 120 Deduction Rewards levels.
Companion Genes[edit | edit source]
Companion Genes are permanent battle buffs active during Abyssal Chaos mode when a specific Companion is selected for Deductions. There are five "Nodes (buffs)" in total that can be unlocked by using Companion Factors earned from Deductions.
Note that Companion Factors are specific to the Companion selected for the Deduction and cannot be used to unlock Companion Genes of another Companion. A max of 2,400 Companion Factors can be earned for each Companion, which is the required amount to unlock all five nodes of each Companion Gene tree.
